Letting go of forever
Carolyn is the product of a 50-plus year marriage. She thought she was headed for the same marital longevity as her parents, especially after she and her husband celebrated more than 30 years together. But that fantasy was shattered when her husband told her he wanted out.
Divorce for her was a devastating, immobilizing slap in the face.
“I had no viable plan B,” she said. “I didn’t think I needed one because our marriage was supposed to be forever. My hopes, my dreams, my life—were all tied to my husband, our marriage, our family.”
